This time of year is full of anticipation… whether you’re a child counting the days until Santa arrives, or an adult waiting on a special tradition or event that only comes along once a year… excitement is everywhere!
There’s a very good chance if you read this on Monday, I’ll be flying over your home at about 30,000 feet. I’m heading out in the morning to visit my family in Georgia…we’re having an early Christmas celebration.
We’d hoped the whole family would be together this Christmas for the first time in close to fifteen years, but it was just too hard to make it happen. The actual week of Christmas is busy for all, and the ticket prices were outrageous!
We finally reached a compromise, and tomorrow my sister (in California), as well as myself (in Washington), will be flying into Atlanta to spend the week with our parents. My brother, his wife and two boys, live about an hour away (in Tennessee), so we’ll get to see them too!
My sister has a birthday on Tuesday, my brother’s is the 19th, and my mom turns 60 at the beginning of January… we have a lot of celebrating to do while we’re all under the same roof! The last time all of us were together for a holiday, my son was only a baby and my siblings were just kids themselves…
Tonight as I’m surrounded by laundry and suitcases… my emotions are all over the place. I’m really looking forward to spending time with my family, though leaving my hubby and kids behind is something I absolutely dread.
I know life goes on without me at the house, but I’d like to think I’ll be missed… and I want things to run as smoothly as possible for everyone while I’m away!
Whether you’re anticipating that special visit from Santa, or seeing a friend or relative you’ve been missing desperately… I pray that this holiday season fills you with blessings and joy as we prepare to celebrate the birth of our Savior!
P.S.
I’m waving… look up!
“The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel”—which means, “God with us.”
Matthew 1:23

I understand the mixed emotions when traveling. I’m making a trip this week as well, leaving my husband at home to paint the game room and take care of a few Christmas related things here. I pray you have safe travels and a wonderful time with your family.
What fun – have a wonderful time!
As for leaving the hubs and kids – they will be fine. I’ve always said my job as a mom is to work myself out of a job. I will always a mother to my three boys, (21,19,16) but not their mom – as in taking care of their daily needs.
Hello up there! Have a safe trip and a wonderful Christmas.
Have a fun and safe trip
Wishing you safe travel and a wonderful celebration!
Have fun, hon! I’ll be waving up at you!
Be blessed! Have a wonderful time (but you are definitely not flying over my house).
Coming in a little late (my life story, LOL)….hope you are settling in after a safe flight with your family and enjoying every minute!
