With Christmas and the busyness we all experience this time of year… the carnival really snuck up on many of us. Tomorrow is the big day… and the topic/word this time is ‘Love’.
There has been a minor change… I’m going to be hosting the carnival here… instead of over at Peter’s site. Please pray for Peter and his family, as his wife’s grandmother just passed away.
If you haven’t yet joined our Facebook Page, make sure to do that too… this will keep you informed of future carnivals and more.
As always, I’m sure there are many directions to go with this word, and I’m excited to see what everyone has to say…
To get us in the mood… I wanted to share a poem my dad wrote to my mom back in February for their 40th wedding anniversary. I find it to be a beautiful example of love… the kind that lasts 40 years and beyond!
40 years, my dear, and the passing of time,
A tribute to you …and I’ll make it rhyme.
The “ups and downs” – the good and the bad.
All of these memories, both joyful and sad.
It started off crazy, with my being late—
For something as important as our wedding date.
You were young and beautiful as a bride could be,
And I was so lucky you said YES to me!
Both young and in love with much to discover;
Your best talent is when you become “Mother”.
All the things that you’ve done that make me so proud.
And I’ve waited too long to say them out loud.
Little we knew of the ‘vows’ that we took,
That many years passing would inspire this book.
(this is where my dad wrote a story about all the ups and downs they’ve lived through over the past 40 years… then he concluded with the following… )
This marriage has been perfect—I’d do it again!
Only thing questionable is my wife’s taste in men.
I am amazed by your talents, willingness to please.
The children you’ve raised; the pain that you’ve eased.
The highs and the lows—the glee and the strife,
This woman’s a wonder…this woman is MY wife!
Your beauty gets greater with each passing day.
I would be lost without you, thank God I do pray.
You judge me not – you’re my BEST FRIEND,
Wise , forgiving…and loving without end.
So lucky to have found you–I know this is true.
40 years is only a beginning because I LOVE YOU.
See you all tomorrow for the carnival…

What a wonderful poem. I pray my hubby and I are like that in another 30 years.
So sorry to hear about Peter and his family. Loss is so hard anyway, but worse around the holidays. We’ll be praying for you, Peter.
I’m looking forward to this carnival for sure. And the facebook idea was great. I might have missed it otherwise. I enjoyed the poem here too. Thank you for sharing.
