If I had a nickel for each time the hubby and I tell our son to “pull his pants up,” I could support my Starbucks habit with money to spare!
Most of the time you can’t see how low his pants ride because his shirts cover it up… but every now and then the shirt will get hung up on his belt and we’ll get an eyeful of buns (cute ones) and boxers.
I can’t tell you how badly I wanted this particular fashion statement to be short-lived… unfortunately… it just won’t die!
I saw this video today… and even though I’ve heard these lyrics enough to last a lifetime… this is a great (and tolerable) version… these guys are totally awesome!

I hadn’t seen that version, and I love it!
I guess my son JUST missed that fashion statement – either because he’s only 12 OR because we live in the country, where boys wear jeans that fit. I’m not sad about that, even if it does mean an overabundance of mullets here. (But not on my kids!!!)
@Steph You are sooo lucky! We have a few mullets around these parts… but the homey pants outnumber them.
@Joyce If only… have a great weekend yourself!!
@Wendy I think I need it, the tape and threats aren’t doing the trick!
@Michelle My boy is 6′1″ and pretty skinny… but that is why we buy him belts! hehe
Seriously…what is it with this trend? It won’t quit. Maybe blogging about his ‘attire’ will be the motivation he needs to wear them a little bit higher : )
Have a nice weekend!
Would you like to borrow my staple gun? I’d be happy to loan it to you. Works like a charm.
And yeah, that was probably the best version of Pants On The Ground out there.
My second son is super skinny AND he wears his pants this way…..not sure he even has a choice in the matter, but it drives me NUTS.
Video subtitle: “We have a lot of spare time”. Awesome.
Very nice. That was an excellent version!
I love acapella groups. Ithacappella was asked to do that version for American Idol. They recorded that in a hotel room while on tour. I have to say the baggy pants style does seem to be in recovery, at lease here in NOVA.
Cute!
I’d be in favor of a National Hike ‘Em Up Day.
I love the idea of “National Hike ‘Em Up Day.”
Our son is not a “sagger” but still I see his boxers more than I care to.
Not too long ago we were out somewhere. A teenager was walking down the street. His pants were down so far the belt was hitting right above his knees. I have no idea how he could even walk. Someone called his name & he took off running…and his pants fell right down. Without missing a step he pulled back up to just above his knees and kept on going.
What in the world is the point of a belt if you are not using it for anything?
I enjoyed the video. Great harmonizing.
Bridget, as the mother of two teenage boys, I feel your pain. I love the video. Thanks for sharing it with us.
