One Word at a Time…Patience

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9

Shortly after I began blogging, I wrote a post on Patience where I shared that I don’t have any… and how I felt the trials we face cause us to stretch and grow.

Since that time, I’ve come to the conclusion God is trying to teach me that even though I think I’ve been stretched as far as humanly possible… I possess much more elasticity than I ever imagined!

Many questions and prayers still go unanswered… and many circumstances we were dealing with then, have become much more serious and worrisome. Where I was only slightly anxious before… I’m now on the verge of completely freaking out.

What I’m learning through all of these struggles is… there comes a time when you can either get beaten down and give up… or… you can let go of FEAR and doubt… and hold on tight to hope and FAITH!

Patience is NOT~ Frustration when things don’t go your way.
Patience is NOT~ Edginess over unchangeable situations or decisions.
Patience is NOT~ Angst and dismay when dealing with hardship.
Patience is NOT~ Reservations about hope and trust.

Patience is~ Fearlessness during adversity.
Patience is~ Allowing time for prayers to be answered.
Patience is~ Imperturbability during the direst of circumstances.
Patience is~ Trusting without a doubt… answers will come.
Patience is~ Hugging your child when you want to punish them.

“Let nothing disturb thee; Let nothing dismay thee; All thing pass; God never changes. Patience attains All that it strives for. He who has God Finds he lacks nothing:God alone suffices.” ~ St. Teresa of Avila

“Imperturbability.” “Hugging your child when you want to punish them.”

Yes, this is very much what I have been learning lately too. Something about maintaining sanity with a new baby and a toddler in the house. And only by His Spirit, because if it was just me, well…

This was fantastic! And what wonderful word play.

I’ve been meaning to join the carnival for quite awhile, but never seen to have the time.. soon.. soon.

I love that quote at the end by Teresa of Avila. And that last bit about patience — hugging your child when you feel like punishing them — words of wisdom.

Not sure if my post fits perfectly — it’s not overtly about patience. But it is about my struggles with prayer recently…struggles I am trying to wait patiently through.

WoW! Thank you Bridget — Awesome!

I love Patience is not FEAR

Patience is FAITH.

Brilliant!

Great job. I am terrible with acrostics. I also think most are really forced and hokie. You have done a great job by making not one but two really good ones that sell your point.

Wow – I love the FAITH acrostics! ;) True, every line, and with a Bridget flair. For sure, the path down fear feels totally scary – I often don’t feel I have any faith left for the especially hard trials. But, God is faithful and we hang to Him.

Have you ever thought about being a preacher? This could make at least two great sermons.

Loved this fine ending of yours. Faith and trust. Living like we believe

In the end, it will be, right? :) Really enjoyed reading all the posts. Some amazing contributions.
