One Word at a Time…Hope

Today is my daughter’s 13th birthday. Watching her grow into the amazing young woman she’s becoming… listening to her share her faith with others… witnessing the good choices she’s making… gives me hope.

My son will be 15 in a couple weeks. Seeing the man he’s become and how much he’s grown in his faith is incredible. Knowing how tempting the world is, and that he’s trying to do the right things… and encouraging his friends to do the same… gives me hope.

During circle time in my classroom, the kids interact with the teacher and each-other. Hearing them clap for the other kids when they say a word they never knew before… or seeing them help the students who are disabled or non-verbal… gives me hope.

Being part of a wonderful team of women who sacrifice their time and energy to come in early, and stay after school to make sure the kids are taken care of… gives me hope.

Witnessing many of my Twitter friends become personally involved in one-anothers lives. Receiving prayer requests and emails about specific needs… and adding some of my own requests along the way… gives me hope.

Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the LORD. Psalm 31:24

Waking to a new day after a long and difficult night…
The warmth of sunshine on my skin…
The giggle of children at play…
The sound of waves crashing on the shore…
Taking in the beauty of God’s creation around me…
Knowing my Heavenly Father loves me no matter what…
gives me hope!

What gives you hope when all feels hopeless?

Hope based in love for people, love from people, and God’s love is the best, for sure! I really like this, Bridget. :D

Knowing that “this, too, shall pass” gives me hope.

Encouragement and appreciation are like gifts of hope but lately my best hope comes from looking ahead.

That last line…….”Knowing my Heavenly Father loves me no matter what…”
is what brings me hope.

Great post, Bridget!

My first thought was the same as Sandra’s “This too shall pass.”

My hope also comes from believing that God is love, but sometimes when I feel hopeless, beliefs aren’t much comfort. At those times, I need something tangible to help me feel hope. I figure if the creator is love and he created everything, then nature is the closest I will get to him and it usually works. Somehow natural beauty translates to hope and love for me … so the beach, waves and sunshine also work for me.

Great post, Bridget. There is plenty to be thankful for and plenty of reasons to have hope. I want to consistently look for reasons to hope instead of doubt or fear. Thanks for the great reminder.

Tomatoes give me hope! (You will just have to read my post for that to make any sense to you.) :-)

Happy Birthday to your daughter!

In a word: God. He gives me hope, and I am clinging to it during a hard time right now.

I hope it’s okay (no pun intended!) …I linked up to a post I wrote last week. It’s absolutely about hope…and when I saw Billy’s post for your blog carnival, I came by and saw the word was hope and had to link my post from last Friday. Because it’s indeed all about hope.

Thanks, Bridget!

Yesterday I was particularly twisted and wrenched and feeling like my Hope was trampled beneath my feet–because maybe I have been doing things wrong all along and maybe because I don’t have a clear understanding of how to do them right. But then, reading some comments about keeping it simple and loving like Jesus and of course seeking Him in prayer and in the Bible, helped put my heart back where it belongs–in God’s hands.

Where do I find Hope?
- In God.
-In His children who love people (because they are living Christ out loud).

Thank you for this post.

Blessings.

Bridget, this was the most challenging and inspiring carnival you’ve hosted yet. At least for me. Thanks again for your part in it! :D

Isn’t it wonderful how even small things can give us such hope?
