One Word at a Time…Condemnation
“Compassion will cure more sins than condemnation.”
~ Henry Ward Beecher

Christianity is used as an excuse for censure.
It’s Often the defense used so we can judge others without regret.
We bring Misery, never worrying about the consequences that follow.
Proof of contempt is in our disapproving glares and silent rebuke.
We conveniently forget about Acceptance and kindness.
It’s Soon replaced with rejection and intolerance,
causing Sorrow and pain due to our ignorance.
This is Incomprehensible for those who claim to follow Jesus.
Where is Our empathy and unconditional love?
There’s Never a legitimate reason for condemnation!
“Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn others, or it will all come back against you. Forgive others, and you will be forgiven. Luke 6:37
I keep thinking of the simplest of all songs…
Jesus loves the little children
All the children of the world
Red and yellow
Black and white
They are precious in His sight.
Jesus loves the little children
Of the world.
Jesus died for all the children
All the children of the world
Red and yellow
Black and white
They are precious in His sight.
Jesus died for all the children
Of the world.
So many substitutions could be made in the song…
Muslim, Christian, Rich, Poor, Straight, Gay, Skinny, Overweight, Conservative, Liberal, Able-bodied, Handicapped… the list goes on and on!
Just turn on the news (it makes me sad)… there’s never a shortage of examples. The number of prejudices we live with are endless.
Thankfully, so is the love of Christ.
And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Ephesians 3:18-19

Nice how you spelled out the word all need to remember.
I’m always glad to see a negative concept countered by the positive one. Nicely done, Bridget.
“There’s Never a legitimate reason for condemnation!”
Really–but what about …? NO–NEVER.
Yeah, but surely you want us to condemn …, right? NO–NEVER.
But what about the stuff I’ve done. You HAVE to condemn me for that, don’t you? NO–NEVER.
Why can’t I get it?
I love the twists that this one word “condemnation” is bringing out. Oh, the glorious grace of God. Nicely done, Bridget. Your post gets to the heart of it – the love of Christ is endless. Yes, the simple “Jesus Loves the Little Children” song is really quite profound. May we all “get it” one day and learn to love like that.
I bet I am not alone in my ability to extend more compassion to others than to myself…
Praying that we learn to keep some of His love for ourselves as well.
What a statement to remember: there’s no shortage of problems but no shortage of His love either. And one day when all the problems and condemnations and injustices have been dealt with, His love will still endure forever. What a promise!
Thanks Bridget.
Love this, Bridget. Poetic and meaningful.
Yes, Compassion rather than condemnation! Loved your thoughts and always enjoy the song! Thank you for providing this exciting carnival!
