One Word Header for Web

Bridget

I believe it’s natural to want to be (and do) the best we can… and who doesn’t want to make a difference?

I recently became a single mom of two teens, after being married for almost 17 years. It was a shock and a surprise, but I pray that God will reveal what He has in store for me next. My kids are awesome, and I want to be the kind of mom they need… one they’ll come to when faced with a crisis, as well as in happy times. I want to be a part of it all… the good, the bad, and the ugly!

This is an ongoing (and difficult) process in which I often fall short (hey, I’m only human). I realized last year that if sharing my life and struggles with others could reach even one person who needs to know they aren’t alone… then opening up and becoming vulnerable would be worth taking a risk.

If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain.
If I can ease one life the aching,
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin
Unto his nest again,
I shall not live in vain.
~Emily Dickinson

My first blog post was in July, and I wasn’t sure what to expect. I started writing about things that were happening in my life, and things I’d previously experienced I felt might be helpful to others.

What I quickly realized was… putting my feelings into words was very therapeutic for ME… the icing on the cake was when I received comments from people who could relate, and appreciated my openness and honesty!

Now that I’ve become a 1-1 Staff Assistant in Special Ed, I’m learning so many wonderful lessons I hope to be able to share as well.

I decided on the one word theme and have thoroughly enjoyed it… my goal today is still the same… I hope to make a difference… One Word at a Time!

Some facts about me:

• I grew up in California, but Washington State has been my home for over seventeen years.

• I currently reside in Vancouver (WA) with my teen son and daughter. Together we’re enjoying the many blessings the beautiful Pacific Northwest has to offer.

• I wrote a 60,000 word Young Adult Novel, and hope to find time for some editing soon. I loved working on it and am currently seeking representation.

• I’m hooked on Twitter and have ‘met’ some amazing people who offer me friendship, encouragement, and support (along with a lot of laughs).

• I’m a Starbucks coffee freak… they have the best choices in low-cal treats!

• Joking and sarcasm are some of my main characteristics, but my passion for helping others (especially teens) is a big part of who I am as well.

Writing has been a dream of mine for years, and to be actively doing it is incredible. I don’t know what’s next, or what path God will lead me down… but I hope you’ll join me in the journey, and we’ll find out together.
